
Shazia Manus was named president and chief executive officer of Greater Iowa Credit Union in February 2006.
Prior to her appointment, she served as the interim CEO, chief deposit officer and internal audit and compliance officer at Greater Iowa. A native of Bangladesh, Manus began her financial career in the micro financing industry in her native county. She also managed, owned several retail businesses along with the operation of multiple children's literacy/coaching centers, workshops in her native country of Bangladesh. In 2006, Manus obtained Certified Senior Executive (CSE) designation from the Center for Applied Executive Management (CUES & Harvard Business School 2006). In 2007, she was selected for inclusion in the 2007-2008 Princeton Premier Registry for her leadership in the credit union industry. Manus holds a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Iowa State University.
Manus remains active in the Ames and central Iowa communities through community and outreach endeavors. Her current involvement includes Ames Noon Rotary, United Way of Story County, Children's Miracle Network, American Cancer Society, Ames Economic Development Commission, Credit Union Executive Society, and Iowa Credit Union League.
In 2007, Manus was selected as one of the industry leaders to serve on Iowa Credit Union League' Growth Commission to review credit union industry trends, conduct market research as it related to credit union industry growth, with the ultimate goal of offering recommendations for credit union growth strategies. Manus is an active participant of various credit union key legislative advocacy campaigns and endeavors through both state and federal credit union trade associations. She served on Iowa Credit Union League' Payday Loan Commission and is considered an expert on predatory lending practices in Iowa. She has participated in speaking engagements for local community groups on payday lending and how credit unions across the state are working with its membership and communities to help the underserved communities.
