All financial institutions are federally mandated to put in place additional measures to increase online security.

Enrollment

Do I have to enroll in Enhanced Online Security? [top]
Starting January 22, 2007 you will have to enroll in Enhanced Online Security in order to use Greater Iowa Online. Before this date you can still login using Standard Online Security.

Do I have to enroll for all of my member numbers? [top]
Yes, you will have to enroll for Enhanced Online Security for each member number. After enrollment, all loans, checking accounts, savings accounts, and other online services associated with the enrolled member number will not require you to enroll again.

When do I have to do this by? [top]
You can login using the Standard Online Security until January 22, 2007. At this point you will be required to enroll for Enhanced Online Security.

Do I have to change my PIN number? [top]
No, the PIN number that you have been using before the enhancement will remain the same.
** It's recommended that you do change your PIN to alphanumeric with a minimum of six characters. **

Will this change how I do online banking? [top]
No, your online banking will remain the same.

How do I un-enroll? [top]
In order to un-enroll you need to contact the credit union personally to express your intent to un-enroll. Keep in mind being un-enrolled will keep you from being able to access Greater Iowa Online.

Do I have to re-enroll if I delete my cookies or have cookies disabled? [top]
No, once you have enrolled you do not have to do so again. Keep in mind if cookies are disabled you can not access Greater Iowa Online.

Registration

What does "Register this computer" mean? [top]
"Register this computer" means that you authorize that this computer will be used to access your account.

Why would I want to do this? [top]
If you are using a computer that will not be publicly used you can register your computer. When you register a computer you will not be asked one of your five security questions each time you login to Greater Iowa Online.

What does "This is a public computer", mean? [top]
"This is a public computer" is an option that you would want to choose if several other people will be using the same system.

What does "Unregister this Computer", mean? [top]
When this option is chosen no record that you have used your account will be stored on the computer requiring you to always answer one of your five security questions when logging in.

How long does it stay registered? [top]
Your computer will always remain registered if you log in at least once every six months or until you manually unregister the computer.

How do I un-register a computer? [top]
You can un-register a computer one of two ways.

  • To un-register a computer, log into your Greater Iowa Online account. Select the More Button. Then select the Enhanced Security button. At the bottom of the window will be a button labeled ÒUnregister this Computer.Ó Select this button. The computer you are on now is unregistered and will ask you a security question each time you login.
  • When you are logging in, using Enhanced Online Security, the last page containing your Security Image has an option to "Unregister this computer." Select that and login as usual.

Can I register on more than one computer? [top]
Yes, you can register on as many computers as you want.

Can someone with another account register on the same computer? [top]
Yes, multiple members can register safely on the same computer as another member.

Do I have to re-register if I delete my cookies [top]
Yes, if you delete your cookies you will have to re-register that particular computer the next time you login. You will also be required to answer a security question as well when logging in.

Do I have to enable my cookies? [top]
Yes, If you don't allow cookies you will not be able to login to Greater Iowa Online.

How do I setup my browser to use all the features of Enhanced Online Security? [top]
Below are the instructions to setup the current version of the three most common web browsers. Please consult your help files for older versions.

1. Select the "Tools" button from the toolbar.

2. Select "Internet Options."

3. Select the "Privacy" tab.

4. Move the vertical selection to any setting Medium-High or Lower. Do NOT use "High" or "Block all Cookies."

Firefox 2.0

1. Select the "Tools" button from the toolbar.

2. Select "Options..."

3. Select the "Privacy" tab.

4. Under the Cookies section make sure "Accept cookies from sites" is Checked and that Keep until is set to "they expire."

5. Select OK.

Netscape 8.1.2

1. Select the "Tools" button from the toolbar.

2. Select "Options..."

3. Select "Site Controls."

4. Under Web Features make sure "Allow cookies" is checked

Why do I have to re-register if I use a different browser from the one I used to register the computer I'm on? [top]
The information stored when you register your computer takes note of what operating system and web page browser you are using. So if you register using Internet Explorer, you will still have to register again if you use FireFox, Netscape, etc. on the same computer.

Features of Enhanced Online Security

Security Code

What is this for? [top]
The security code is a randomly generated sequence of letters and numbers designed to prevent automated systems from attempting to force themselves into your account.

Is it case sensitive? [top]
Yes, the security code displayed is case sensitive. It will contain only lowercase letters and numbers.

Security Question

What is this for? [top]
This is a layer of security that only you, the member, can customize for your protection. ** If the account being enrolled is a shared account, be sure that all parties involved know the correct answer to all of the security questions to avoid being locked out of the account **

Why am I no longer being asked for this? [top]
If you have registered the computer you are on then you will not be asked a security question.

How do I create my own security questions? [top]
To create your own security questions login to your Greater Iowa Online account. Select the More button. Then Select the Enhanced Security button. From here you can use the predefined questions and put in your own answer or you can create your own unique questions and answers.

What are the criteria for creating a question and answer? [top]
Your question has to be at least 4 characters long and your answer must be at least 1 character long. The question and answer cannot match or use any of the restricted words, characters, or phrases.

Do I have to have five questions? [top]
Yes, you have to use five unique questions.

Security Image

What is this for? [top]
The security image is an image that will contain the text you entered when you enrolled. It's intended as an additional layer of security to avoid phishing scams.

When you enroll into Enhanced Online Security for Greater Iowa Online it asks for a security image (pictured below).

It's a visual form of identification that will help to insure you are at our site. It's use is pictured below.

How can I change it? [top]
To change your security image login to your Greater Iowa Online account. Select the More button. Then Select the Enhanced Security button. At the bottom of the page you will find a text box where you can enter a new security image phrase. Once done click Submit.

Nickname

What is a nickname? [top]
The nickname is a unique alias of your choice that you can use to login with instead of using your member number.

** The nickname is only for use on Greater Iowa Online. Branch staff will not be able to conduct business with a nickname. **

How can I change it? [top]
To change your nickname login to your Greater Iowa Online account. Select the More button. Then Select the Enhanced Security button. At the bottom of the page you will find a text box where you can enter a new nickname. Once done click Submit.

** Once you change your nickname anyone will be able to use your previous nickname. **

Can I use the same nickname more than once? [top]
No, the nickname you choose is unique only to the account it's assigned to and can't be used for any other account.

PIN (Password)

What is this for? [top]
Your PIN is the "password" to your account that was setup when you created your account.

Is this different with Enhanced Online Security? [top]
No. Your PIN is the same one you used with Greater Iowa Online before the enhancement.

How can I change it? [top]
To change your PIN login to your Greater Iowa Online account. Select the More button. Then Select the Change Password button. Fill in the appropriate old and new password fields. Once done click Ok.

Problems with Enhanced Online Security

Problems with Logging In [top]
If you are having problems logging in and have attempted to find the solution to your issue with this page you can call us at 1-800-296-9064.

Forgot Nickname [top]
Your nickname cannot be looked up by credit union staff. You can view your nickname by logging into your Greater Iowa Online account. Select the More button. Then Select the Enhanced Security button. At the bottom of the page you will find your nickname right of the label nickname.

No longer remember or have a problem with security questions [top]
If you do not remember your security questions you will need to go into your local branch and have your account un-enrolled.

Locked Account [top]
If you have locked your account before January 22, 2007 and are in need of immediate access to your account, you can login to Greater Iowa Online using Standard Online Security.

To unlock your account you will need to go into your local branch to have your account unlocked.

Why do I get this error message? [top]

There are several reasons you may get this message.

  • If you received this message after entering your Member Number (or Nickname) and security code the reason for the error would be either the member number (or nickname) or security code was not correct.
  • If you received this message after answering a security question one of the following may apply to you.
    • You haven't enrolled into Enhanced Online Security. You can begin by clicking Here.
    • The answer to your security question is incorrect.
    • Your account is locked.
  • If you received this message after verifying your security image and entering your PIN the reason for the error would be an incorrect PIN.
  • If you received this message after any of the previous scenarios it may be that it took to long for you to submit the form. If this is the case, please return to the login form and reenter your details.

The reason the web address when you first start to login is https://mfa.lanxtra.com is because we have hired a service to run the secure authentication you now experience.

Does this affect my Bill Pay Settings? [top]
No, your Bill Pay settings will remain the same.

Does this affect my downloading into Quicken or Microsoft Money? [top]
No, you can continue to use this feature as normal.

Why am I being asked a security question when I have yet to enroll in Enhanced Online Security? [top]
This is a security feature. If you have not enrolled you need to enroll by clicking Here . Enrollment is required to use Enhanced Online Security with Greater Iowa Online and can't be avoided.

What phrases or characters can I not use when creating a question and answer? [top]
'Select From' , 'Delete From' , 'Update Set' , 'Insert Into' , 'drop' , 'null'
